As John Lyly's Euphues said, "All is fair in love and war." Some people actually get inspired by this quote and go to any extent to have their love. One such incident happened in Rajasthan when a physical education teacher at Bharatpur underwent a sex change operation to marry her student Kalpana Fouzdar.

“Everything is fair in love and that is why I changed my gender,” Meera, now goes by Aarav Kuntal, told reporters.

Her first meeting with Kalpana was during a physical education class at her school. Kalpana played kabaddi at the state level and will reportedly participate in the international kabaddi tournament in Dubai in January.

Aarav said he fell in love with Kalpana during their interactions on the school playground, but that he had always wanted to be a boy.

He said he fell in love with Kalpana during their interactions on the school playground, but that he had always wanted to be a boy. “Despite being born a girl, I always believed I was a boy. I've always wanted to get gender-transfer surgery. In December 2019, I underwent my first operation,” he said.

Aarav’s bride, Kalpana, said she had been in love with him for a long time and would still have married him even if he had not undergone the surgery.

As per media reports, the parents of the bride and groom have accepted the odd and yet uncommon wedding.

On September 6, 2018, a historical verdict was passed for the LGBT Community where homosexuality was partially de-criminalized under section 377 of IPC, 1860.

But still, it is not widely accepted in India where people are skeptical about homosexuality. There is a stigma associated with it. Many people do not come forward because of the feedback they get from the society.

However, India is also moving in the same clear direction as the rest of the world. The acceptability of homosexuality is generally higher among younger people than among older people, and in the western world, acceptance of gay marriage has dramatically increased. There is a significant shift toward more liberal attitudes in India as well.
