The Rachakonda Police in Telangana successfully dismantled an interstate drug racket with the arrest of three individuals from Rajasthan. The accused were caught while transporting and selling poppy straw, a narcotic substance under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

Tip-Off Leads to Arrests

The operation began with a credible tip-off, leading to the suspects' arrest on Sunday evening under the Meerpet police station's jurisdiction. According to Rachakonda Commissioner of Police G. Sudheer Babu, the arrests were the result of detailed surveillance and swift action by the police teams.

Major Seizure of Narcotics

The operation led to the seizure of 53.5 kilograms of poppy straw, worth approximately ₹1.25 crore in the illicit market. Additionally, three mobile phones and other incriminating materials were seized, expected to aid in further investigations.

Sourcing and Distribution

Investigations uncovered that the accused had obtained the poppy straw from a supplier based in Madhya Pradesh. The contraband was then transported to Hyderabad, where it was distributed locally. The operation exploited interstate routes to avoid detection.

Efforts to Trace Wider Network

Authorities are now working to trace other suspects connected to the racket. An official release confirmed that police are making efforts to arrest the absconding suspects, including receivers and consumers, with the goal of dismantling the entire operation and bringing all involved parties to justice.
