New Delhi: A 30-year-old man lost his life after fainting at the hospital where his injured girlfriend had been admitted. According to police, the incident occurred after the man received a distressing video from his girlfriend in which she was seen slitting her wrist.

The police suspect the man may have suffered a cardiac arrest but are awaiting further medical reports to confirm the exact cause of death. The event took place during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. At 3:34 a.m., a call was made to the Anand Vihar police station, alerting them about an unconscious man brought to Kailash Deepak Hospital. When police arrived, the man, identified as Arun Nanda, had already been declared dead by the hospital's doctors.

An investigation revealed that Nanda had rushed his friend, a resident of Jagatpuri, to the hospital after she injured herself by slitting her wrist with a sharp object in the Shahdara area of Anand Vihar. Police disclosed that the injured woman had sent Nanda a video of her self-harm using a messaging application, prompting him to bring her to the hospital.

However, upon seeing the extent of her injuries at the hospital, Nanda reportedly fainted suddenly. Despite medical efforts, he was declared dead shortly after, police officials confirmed. Following standard procedure, Nanda's body was sent to the Subzi Mandi Mortuary for an autopsy on Saturday.

His remains were later handed over to his family after the post-mortem examination. During the autopsy, doctors also preserved viscera samples to determine the cause of death conclusively. Officials confirmed that there were no signs of physical assault or foul play.

The tragic incident has raised questions, with further investigation underway to clarify whether a preexisting medical condition contributed to Nanda's sudden death.
