The government informed Rajya Sabha that 73.98 crore Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA) has been created as of 6th February, 2025. The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, which is implemented by the National Health Authority, an agency of the Government of India comprises key registries such as the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA), healthcare professional registry (HPR), health facility registry (HFR), and drug registry.
The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) is an initiative proposed by the Government of India with the aim to develop and support the country's digital health infrastructure. As a part of ABDM, a unique Health Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts ID is provided for every individual, making the process of digital healthcare more convenient.
According to the Union Minister of State for Health Prataprao Jadhav, almost 74 crore ABHA records have been created, which makes the initiative a huge success. The press release posted on 11 February 2025 states that Over 3.63 lakh health facilities have been registered on the Health Facility Registry(HFR) and over 5.64 lakh healthcare professionals are registered on the Healthcare Professional Registry (HPR).
The ABHA portal [abha.abdm.gov.in] and the government PHR (personal health record) applications such as the ABHA app and Aarogya Setu app have been made multi-lingual and intuitive to use, with a view to address the lack of digital literacy.

The initiative officially came into existence on 27th September 2021 with the vision of establishing a robust digital health infrastructure.
