A Pakistani doctor and content creator, known as Fani, has drawn significant backlash on social media following a controversial video in which he criticized China. In the video, he described his initial experience in the country as unpleasant, claiming that a pervasive "foul smell" greeted him upon his arrival. Fani mentioned that the smell was so strong it made him feel nauseous during his first day in China.

He also alleged that this issue began during his flight from Dubai, which he said had many Chinese passengers onboard, and became worse once he landed. However, he admitted that he eventually grew accustomed to the odour over time. Additionally, he suggested that similar experiences occurred during his visits to some European countries.

Fani’s video, titled “Why does China smell so bad?” quickly went viral, garnering over 54,000 views on Instagram and sparking widespread criticism. Many social media users were offended by his remarks, labeling them as baseless and disrespectful. Some individuals who had lived in or visited China refuted Fani's claims, emphasizing the country's cleanliness and high hygiene standards.

One commenter wrote, “I’ve been living in China for years and never experienced any bad smell. The people here are clean and maintain good hygiene. Perhaps what you noticed was your own scent.” Another user remarked, “China is incredibly clean and beautiful. I’ve visited several times and never encountered anything like what you described.”

Others criticized Fani for his approach and urged him to show respect for the country he was living in. One comment read, “Don’t badmouth a country that welcomed you and gave you opportunities. This isn’t what we’re taught to do.”

Despite the backlash, Fani remains active on social media, where he regularly shares videos about his experiences in China. With over 23,000 subscribers on YouTube and nearly 400 Instagram followers, his online presence continues to grow. According to his bio, Fani has completed an MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) degree and identifies himself as a "true hustler."
