Recently, in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, an eye specialist killed his family. After killing his family, the doctor committed suicide by hanging himself.

Dr. Arun Kumar Singh was a 45-year-old eye specialist. He has been working as a medical officer in a hospital at a rail coach factory in the railways since 2017. He lived with his wife and two children in railway quarters. He was a local of Mirzapur, posted at Bareli. According to the police investigation, Dr. Arun Kumar Singh, his wife Archana (40), their daughter Adiva (13), and son Aarav (4) were found dead inside the house when the doctor’s colleagues broke the door and entered. A hammer, blood stains, and drug injections are found at the location. The police also found that the children had died due to head injuries.

The police suspected that the doctor used a blunt object, like a hammer, to inflict injuries on his family members (representational image: Unsplash).

The neighborhood found it suspicious when the family had not been seen since Sunday. The colleagues of the doctor tried to contact them, but no one answered the phone calls. They reached the doctor's house and rang the bell. When they found no response from the bell, they broke the door and found the dead bodies. They informed the police, and an investigation was started. There were fatal injuries to the dead bodies. The police suspected that the doctor used a blunt object, like a hammer, to inflict injuries on his family members. There were injections found at the crime scene, and it seemed that Dr. Singh administered injections to his wife and children before the killing. The police doubted that those were sedatives that were given to his family members, which made them unconscious. Then he killed them with a hammer and tried to kill himself by slitting his wrists. When it didn't work, he hanged himself, according to Rai Bareli SP Alok Priyadarshi. According to the police, the preliminary probe suggested that the doctor was suffering from depression.

The neighborhood was startled by the incident. Kamal Kumar Das, a neighbor, said, Dr. Singh was nice to his patients and others; there must have been a family problem, and that's why this happened.

SP Alok Priyadarshi said that the exact cause of death would be uncovered after the post-mortem. The bodies of the doctor, his wife, and their children have been recovered.
