P.D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre, Mumbai, has launched a groundbreaking Clinical Nursing Leadership program in partnership with the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care at King’s College London. This 12-week hybrid training program is a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at nurturing leadership qualities among senior nurses in India.

The program was formally inaugurated on May 16, 2025, and marks the first academic rollout under the Hinduja-King’s Health Partners Academy, which was jointly announced in April 2024. The Academy is a collaborative initiative involving P.D. Hinduja Hospital, King’s College London, and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

Program Structure and Vision

The Clinical Nursing Leadership program will use a hybrid learning model, comprising both in-person and virtual sessions. The sessions are being delivered by globally renowned faculty from King’s College London. The course is curated to boost core nursing leadership competencies-clinical decision-making, healthcare strategy, evidence-based practices, and team management.

Senior nursing professionals from Hinduja Hospital will be the first batch of participants. The curriculum also includes critical components like adult care, mental health, communication, inter-professional collaboration, and teaching methodologies, making it an all-rounded leadership development effort.

Purpose and Broader Objectives

The primary goal of this program is to elevate the status of nursing leadership in India, where advanced professional development opportunities in nursing remain limited. According to global health studies, countries that invest in nursing leadership observe significant improvements in patient outcomes and healthcare system efficiency (International Council of Nurses, 2022).[1]

Beyond this specific course, the Hinduja-King’s Health Partners Academy has laid out an expansive roadmap that includes:

  • Collaborative research projects

  • Use of AI and digital technologies in healthcare delivery

  • Student exchange programs and scholarships

  • Joint initiatives in biomedical engineering and imaging sciences

These efforts are expected to foster deep bilateral knowledge transfer between India and the UK, ultimately leading to stronger public health systems and cross-border academic enrichment.

Strategic Healthcare Collaboration

The Hinduja-King’s alliance is focused not only on upskilling clinical professionals but also on fostering innovation, digital transformation, and evidence-based practice in both nations.

King’s College London's Florence Nightingale Faculty is particularly well-known for shaping global nursing practices. Partnering with a reputed tertiary care hospital like Hinduja provides a strong foundation for transforming nursing education in South Asia.
