Chicago, Batavia, Ill. : A suburban Chicago chiropractor was arrested on a Wednesday, November 5, 2025 on multiple felony charges after authorities discovered more than 180 hidden-camera videos of unclothed patients including children as young as 3.

David Hanson, 43, owner of Hanson Family Chiropractic at 1928 W. Wilson St., faces five counts of producing child pornography, three counts of disseminating child pornography, two counts of possessing child pornography, and also for unauthorized video recording of a minor through or under clothing, the Kane County State's Attorney.

A Kane County judge ordered Hanson detained pending trial after deeming him a threat to the community during a Thursday hearing. He is scheduled to return to court Monday, November, 10.

Hidden Cameras in Red-Light Therapy Room

The investigation began in September after a tip to a cyber sex abuse hotline led authorities to Hanson's home, where they found child sexual abuse material on his computer and cellphone. A subsequent search of his clinic uncovered the secret recordings, many captured in a red-light therapy room where patients undress fully or partially for skin-related treatment.

"Multiple devices were hidden behind vents or fans so patients seeking treatment wouldn't see them," Kane County State's Attorney Jamie Mosser told ABC7. Videos date back to at least 2017, prosecutors said.

Victims Range from Toddlers to Adults

Victims were predominantly female, ranging from toddlers to adults. The youngest confirmed victim is 3 years old. Forensic analysts are examining metadata to determine if recordings were viewed, altered, shared, or live-streamed.

Who Is David Hanson?

Hanson is a lifelong Batavia resident and father of two. He founded the clinic after earning his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from National University of Health Sciences, as he developed an interest in this field due to his own chiropractic sessions. He held certifications in pediatric care and the Webster Technique for pregnant women, and promoted family-focused services.

What Is Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic is a licensed health care profession that emphasizes the body’s ability to heal itself. Treatment typically involves manual therapy, often including spinal manipulation. Other forms of treatment, such as exercise and nutritional counseling, may be used as well.

National survey data show that 11.0 percent of U.S. adults used chiropractic care in 2022.

Prosecutors Urge Victims to Come Forward

Prosecutors urged potential victims to come forward, stressing no shame in seeking trusted care that was violated.

"This has to be terrifying for those individuals," Mosser said. "People should not be afraid or ashamed."

Anyone who believes they or their child may have been recorded, or who has additional information, should contact the Kane County State's Attorney Victim Hotline at 630-444-3322 or SAOVictimHotline@KaneCountyIL.gov.

The Batavia Police Department and the Kane County Child Exploitation Unit conducted the investigation. More victims have already contacted authorities, officials said.
