A Houston physician has been charged after a hidden camera was discovered inside a bathroom at a medical clinic located on the Memorial Hermann Memorial City Medical Plaza campus.

According to reporting by FOX 26 Houston, authorities arrested Dr. Douglas Hansen, a podiatrist who operates an independent private practice at the medical plaza, after a covert recording device was found inside an employee restroom. A podiatrist is doctor who specializes in treating and preventing conditions related to feet, ankles and lower legs.

The discovery prompted an investigation by local law enforcement.

How the Device Was Discovered

The investigation began on February 20, 2026, when deputies from the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office responded to a call reporting a suspicious device in a bathroom at the clinic.

According to reports cited by FOX 26:

  • An employee reportedly found a hidden camera placed under the sink in the restroom.

  • The device was positioned facing the toilet.

  • The employee recorded video of the device using a cellphone after discovering it.

The employee then alerted Memorial Hermann security personnel and contacted emergency services, leading to a law enforcement response at the clinic.

Charges Filed Against the Doctor

After reviewing evidence from the device, Dr. Hansen was subsequently arrested and charged with attempted invasive visual recording, an offense under Texas law related to secretly recording individuals in private spaces such as bathrooms or changing rooms without consent.

Authorities stated that they recovered the camera and secured the video files stored on the device as part of the investigation.

The attorney also noted that the women were concerned because children had occasionally used the same restroom while visiting the workplace.

Authorities said investigators are continuing to analyze the recovered digital evidence to determine the scope of the recordings and the timeline of the alleged activity.

Court Proceedings and Ongoing Investigation

Dr. Hansen appeared in court for arraignment on February 27, 2026.

Court records indicate:

  • His bond was set at $100.

  • He has since posted bond.

  • His next court appearance is scheduled for April 9.

Authorities said investigators are continuing to analyze the recovered digital evidence to determine the scope of the recordings and the timeline of the alleged activity.
