USA: A surrogate in the US is asking questions about the transparency of the surrogacy system in America. At 12 weeks pregnant, she learned the child she is carrying is the child of Chinese billionaire and gaming executive Xu Bo. CBS News gave her the information.
She also found out that Xu Bo has been linked to almost 100 babies through US surrogacy arrangements.
The woman was identified as “Judy” by CBS News to protect her identity. Judy was never told about the father’s identity. The surrogacy agency told Judy that she was carrying a child for a single father who wanted to expand his family.
According to reports, Judy responded to an advertisement on Instagram that marketed a price of $120,000 for surrogate mothers. She was matched through Patriot Conceptions and was told that the intended parent is a single father.
Judy is a single mother, and she saw this advertisement as an opportunity to move into her own house and give her daughter a better life.
Judy said that she asked Patriot Conceptions about how many more surrogate mothers werebeing hired by the same father, and she was told that the number was close to two dozen.
Xu Bo’s ex-girlfriend Tang Jing alleged that he has more than 300 children. However, Xu said that he has custody of only 12 children through US surrogacy.
Judy said that when she got to know that Xu had hired so many surrogate mothers, she thought that surrogacy agencies should inform the surrogate mothers about the intended parent.
According to Judy, surrogate mothers should be informed about the intended parent’s other arrangements. “It leaves me wondering, if I even had the right to know,” she said.
The California Post reached out to Patriot Conceptions, who confirmed that it was the agency associated with Judy.
In a statement by Patriot Conceptions, the agencysaid that Xu represented himself as a single father, and when they learned about his reality, they suggested terminating his contract.
“In response to these industry-wide challenges, Patriot Conceptions is introducing a standardized pre-match disclosure framework ‘Before You Accept’ and establishing an independent fund to guarantee surrogates access to independent legal and psychological counsel if material client facts change,” Patriot Conceptions said in a statement according to the New York Post.
Judy said she felt obliged to deliver the baby, and her friends also suggested she move ahead with the surrogacy procedure.
According to the New York Post, Judy said that she felt like a part of a baby-making factory.
Xu Bo is a 48-year-old Chinese billionaire and the founder of an online gaming company, Duoyi. According to reports, Xu calls himself China’s first father, and he has been very serious about giving China at least 50 high-quality sons, according to his social media posts.
His company posted on X that Xu Bo has produced more than 100 kids by surrogacy through US surrogacy agencies.
Xu had also posted on his social media about his wish to marry off his kids with Elon Musk’s children and to create an empire.
According to the Wall Street Journal, in a video posted on an account linked to Xu Bao, it could be seen that dozens of young boys in a mansion were jumping up and shouting "Daddy!" in Chinese as the camera approached.
The video caption reads: "Imagine a bunch of babies rushing towards you. How does that feel? Take a look. Besides your loved one, what’s cuter than children?"
A spokesperson from Xu’s company said that the news is fake.

In 2023, a judge in California accepted Xu’s plea for parental rights to his four unborn children and eight other children born through surrogacy.
According to reports, Xu told them that he aimed to parent 20 or more American children, especially boys, who he claimed were superior and would inherit his company in the future.
Xu also admitted that he had not met a few of his children yet because of his busy schedule, but he planned on moving them to China.
However, the judge denied Xu parental rights to the unborn kids.
After an investigation, a widespread network of surrogacy agencies helping wealthy Chinese executives secure American-born offspring was exposed, according to the Wall Street Journal.
