Priya: Hello Neetu! Please tell us something about your professional life.
Neetu Yadav: Hello! My name is Neetu. I graduated from AIIMS Rishikesh. Currently, I am a nursing officer at AIIMS Raebareli.
Priya: How can one get admission into the BSc Nursing program at AIIMS Rishikesh?
Neetu Yadav: I completed my 12th grade in the science stream with biology as a compulsory subject. After that, I gave the AIIMS Nursing Exam, and I was selected for AIIMS Rishikesh. After completing my 4th year, I gave NORCET (Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Eligibility Test), and I joined AIIMS Raebareli on the basis of this exam.
Priya: Tell us something about the campus life at AIIMS Rishikesh.
Neetu Yadav: The campus experience was fantastic, nestled in the lap of nature. Hostel life was enjoyable too, as we had spacious rooms shared by two members. In our fourth year, we were provided with single rooms, which was great. The food quality was excellent, and the tutorials were helpful. One notable aspect was the MCQ criteria implemented in our internal exams, which proved to be beneficial for our preparation for competitive exams. Overall, it was a positive experience.
Priya: What about the practicals? Were they conducted regularly?
Neetu Yadav: Yes, we have four to five simulation labs in every subject like OB/GYN MSN fundamentals in every subject. We have simulation labs, and there we have mannequins so that we can perform procedures on them. It is an excellent experience as it prevents us from making even the slightest mistakes on real patients during practicals and nursing procedures. The labs provide a valuable learning opportunity.
Priya: What’s the best part of your profession?
Neetu Yadav: The best part of my profession is taking care of patients, being by their side when they are ill, and providing both medical treatment and emotional support. The goal is to cure them and instill in them a sense of hope for a better, healthier life.
Priya: Best/memorable moment?
Neetu Yadav: One of the most memorable moments for me was during my college's Fresher party when I performed a dance. It was an amazing experience that I will always cherish. Another unforgettable moment took place during my hospital experience, when a patient said, "If I could be like you, I would consider myself truly blessed." These moments hold a special place in my heart.
Priya: Any final message for your upcoming nursing students/juniors?
Neetu Yadav: It is a wonderful profession that offers not only financial security but also the opportunity to be a lifesaver. In this field, you can establish a connection with patients and contribute to their healing process. There are numerous benefits beyond working with machinery. You can engage with people, serve the community, and assist them through education, knowledge, and compassionate care.
