Former Bigg Boss Marathi contestant Divya Shinde has been accused of breaking into the home of retired senior doctor Dr Vidyadhar Gaikwad along with others, threatening and assaulting him, and snatching his car after an alleged attempt to extort ₹5 lakh failed.
Former “Bigg Boss Marathi” contestant and actress Divya Shinde has been accused of assaulting a retired senior doctor at his Pune residence and taking away his car after he allegedly refused to pay Rs 5 lakh for promoting a cultural event, Police said on Saturday.
Dr. Vidyadhar Gaikwad, former Chief Medical Officer of the Pune Cantonment Board, filed the complaint against Shinde and at least seven others in connection with the alleged incident. According to the complaint, Shinde and other accused allegedly demanded Rs 5 lakh from Gaikwad in exchange for promoting an event organized by an organization. Still, the organization never officially invited or asked Shinde to publicize it, which she claims she did, for which she demanded money through phone calls and messages starting in August.
The FIR alleges that Divya Shinde, Anna Dhamdhare and others first visited Dr. Gaikwad’s residence in Mohammadwadi on September 17 and demanded Rs 5 lakh. A few days later, on September 23, Dhamdhare allegedly threatened the doctor, saying that people would be sent to assault him if he did not pay the amount. The complaint also mentions that Dr Gaikwad was suffering from paralysis and was only a member of the organization associated with the event; he had no involvement in handling the organization’s finances.
The assault took place at around 8:30 pm on Thursday, when Shinde and several others reportedly reached Gaikwad’s residence. The FIR alleges that they assaulted him with sticks, belts and sharp weapons and threatened to kill him over the unpaid Rs 5 lakh demand.
Gaikwad was later taken to hospital for treatment. Following his complaint, police registered a case against Shinde, Dhamdhare and other accused under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
