Rajasthan Nurse Arrested for Allegedly Blackmailing Doctor, Extorting Nearly ₹2 Crore

A nurse has been arrested in Rajasthan's Barmer district after a private hospital doctor alleged that she blackmailed him with intimate photos and videos and extorted nearly ₹2 crore over several years. Police registered a case based on the doctor's complaint and arrested the accused after a preliminary investigation. The accused has denied the allegations, and the investigation is ongoing.

According to police, the complainant is Dr. Simon Mekwan, who runs Bethel IVF & Women Hospital in Hamirpura, Barmer. The accused, identified as Kamal alias Kamlesh Choudhary, allegedly worked at the hospital as a nurse since December 2016.

In his complaint, Dr. Mekwan alleged that the nurse gradually developed a close relationship with him during her night shifts. He claimed that she later transferred his private photographs and videos from his mobile phone to her own device without his knowledge.

The doctor alleged that she subsequently threatened to make the material public, implicate him in a false rape case, and even kill him if he refused to pay her money. Fearing damage to his personal reputation and the hospital's image, he claimed he continued making payments over several years.

The doctor alleged that he paid nearly ₹2 crore, including around ₹35 lakh through bank transfers from his personal and hospital accounts. He claimed the remaining amount was handed over in cash and through other means. These allegations are part of the complaint and have not yet been proven in court.

The complaint also alleges that the nurse obtained the doctor's signatures on blank cheques and stamp papers.

The doctor further claimed that the accused gave him a separate mobile phone and SIM card and insisted that it remain switched on at all times. He alleged that she repeatedly monitored his movements and even obtained passwords to the hospital's CCTV system.

According to the complaint, when the doctor travelled to Ahmedabad for work, the accused allegedly called him around 1,000 times. He also alleged that she showed his private photographs to hospital staff after he failed to answer her calls. Police are verifying these claims as part of the ongoing investigation.

The doctor alleged that on the night of April 3-4, 2025, the accused arrived at his residence and insisted on entering the house. He claimed the incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at his home.

He also alleged that shortly before filing the complaint, the accused visited his residence again, threatened to release the private material, and took ₹17,000 in cash. Police said ₹17,000 was recovered from the accused during the investigation.

Based on the complaint, Kotwali police registered a case and arrested the accused nurse. Additional Superintendent of Police Nitesh Arya said investigators are examining all aspects of the case, including the alleged financial transactions, digital evidence, CCTV footage, mobile phone records, and other material submitted by the complainant.

Police said the allegations are still under investigation, and the exact amount allegedly extorted, along with other claims made in the complaint, will be verified through the ongoing probe.

The accused has denied the allegations, claiming that the doctor has falsely implicated her. Police have not announced any final conclusions, and the case remains under investigation.
