Woman PG Doctor Alleges Molestation, Death Threat by Former BJP Youth Leader at MP Medical College; Two Booked

A woman postgraduate doctor at the state-run Bundelkhand Medical College in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, has accused two men of molestation and threatening medical staff after one of them allegedly touched her inappropriately while she was treating a poisoning patient on duty on July 3, prompting police action and protests at the hospital.

Police booked Anil Shrivastava, identified as a former BJP youth wing functionary, and another accused following the doctor’s complaint. The New Indian Express identified the second accused as Laxmi Tiwari.

The allegations remain under investigation and have not been proven in court.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred at Bundelkhand Medical College when the accused arrived at the hospital in connection with a patient’s treatment.

The woman doctor alleged that one of the men touched her inappropriately while she was attending to a patient. The doctor was treating a poisoning case when the alleged incident occurred.

Hospital staff objected to the alleged behaviour, after which the accused allegedly abused and threatened medical personnel. The reported threat included the Hindi words “goli maar denge,” meaning “we will shoot.”

The complaint also accused the men of creating a disturbance, verbally abusing doctors and nurses, misbehaving with a nursing officer and obstructing medical staff from performing their duties.

Sagar police registered a case against the two accused under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

It was reported that the provisions related to alleged molestation, outraging a woman’s modesty, abusive language, obstruction of a public servant in the discharge of duty and other offences.

The police said efforts were underway to arrest the accused, and searches were being conducted following the registration of the FIR.

The case triggered protests by resident doctors, nursing staff and other healthcare workers at Bundelkhand Medical College on Friday, July 3, 2026.

The protesting healthcare workers demanded action against the accused and raised concerns about safety inside the medical institution.

The Junior Doctors Association, or JUDA, demanded the arrest of the accused. The association warned of a statewide strike if the accused were not arrested within 24 hours.

The protest later was temporarily withdrawn after the district administration and police assured the healthcare workers that action would be taken. However, the Madhya Pradesh Junior Doctors Association maintained that it would launch a statewide work boycott if the accused were not arrested within the stipulated time.
