Dr. Allsun Sweetline, currently completing her BDS internship at Rajas Dental College and Hospital, added, “Colleges should offer short-term study programs to improve students’ research abilities, along with regular seminars and case presentations to build confidence and expand knowledge across different topics.”

Hasan shared an eight-step guide on MedBound Hub to help students ace their first publication.

1. Choose Your Topic Strategically

Select a research topic that aligns with your personal interests, existing skills, and available resources. This ensures sustained motivation and practical feasibility throughout the research process.

2. Seek Expert Guidance

Approach university or college professors for mentorship. Their experience can help refine your topic, prevent common mistakes, and guide you toward realistic research goals.

3. Conduct a Thorough Literature Review

Review 10 to 15 relevant articles using academic databases such as Google Scholar, ResearchGate, and PubMed. This helps you understand existing research, identify gaps, and position your study effectively.

For original research, consider experiment-based or survey-based designs. Focus on systematic data collection, accurate analysis, and clear presentation of findings that readers can easily interpret.
