Irregular admissions to super-speciality courses at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital (LNJP), affiliated with Maulana Azad Medical College, have come under scrutiny after the National Medical Commission (NMC) flagged violations in MCh Neurosurgery and DM Neuroanesthesia programs.

The issue was raised in Parliament, where the Minister of State for Health informed that corrective and disciplinary actions have been initiated following an investigation into the admissions process.

What the NMC Investigation Found

According to official findings, admissions to the super-speciality courses were conducted without proper authorization and outside regulatory norms after the withdrawal of the regulatory approval of NMC.

The investigation also identified then Head of Department Dr. P. N. Pandey, responsible for the irregularities in admission.

Disciplinary proceedings have reportedly been initiated against those found responsible for bypassing established admission protocols.

As part of remedial measures, affected students have been transferred to various other institutions.

According to reports by TOI, MCh 2022-25 batch will be allowed to appear for the final exams. 26 batch will be transferred to Govind Ballabh Pant Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (GIPMER) to ensure continuity of their education.

Students admitted to 27' batch will be transferred to Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences.

The move was aimed at minimizing academic disruption while aligning their training with recognized and approved institutions.
