Washington, DC (January, 2026) —The American Society of Nephrology (ASN) is pleased to  welcome Samir M. Parikh, MD, FASN as its new president. Dr. Parikh, who begins his term today,  succeeds Dr. Prabir Roy-Chaudhury who led ASN in 2025.

Since 2024, Dr. Parikh has chaired the Transforming Kidney Health Research (TKHR) initiative for  ASN, a collaborative effort between federal agencies, research institutions, and non-profit partners,  as well as fellow scientists, clinicians, and patient representatives to reimagine the kidney research

ecosystem. Dr. Parikh played a pivotal role in developing the recently released TKHR report, A  Research Agenda for the Future, which provides a unified blueprint for coordinated action and  strategies to strengthen research funding, coordination, and workforce development across  government and private sectors.
