Tonk, Rajasthan, India, January 14, 2026: A shocking incident was reported late Monday night at Saadat Hospital, Tonk’s largest government hospital. A Senior Medical Officer Dr. Anurag Sharma allegedly entered a patient ward in an intoxicated state. He then unzipped his pants, urinated in front of patients, and later collapsed on the floor.
The incident occurred at around 10:30 pm in Ward No. 20, where both male and female patients were admitted. Distressed by the doctor’s conduct, patients asked hospital staff to remove him from the ward. However, eyewitnesses alleged that staff initially remained passive until the matter escalated to the Principal Medical Officer (PMO).
According to eyewitnesses Buddhiprakash, Manish, and Noori who were present in the ward, Dr. Sharma entered Ward No. 20 wearing his official doctor’s identity card. Witnesses claimed he appeared heavily drunk. He was also staggering and muttering something.
They further alleged that Dr. Sharma unzipped his pants and urinated inside the ward in front of female patients.
Shortly afterward, the doctor lost balance and fell to the floor. Patients requested him to stop, but he failed to respond. Witnesses said he continued to lie on the floor while staff present in the ward kept watching.
Following complaints from patients, the matter was brought to the notice of PMO Dr. Hanuman Bairwa. Acting on his instructions, hospital staff arranged a wheelchair, placed Dr. Sharma on it, and escorted him out of the ward. He was subsequently taken home from there.
Visuals of the incident, now circulating on social media, reportedly show the doctor lying on the ward floor before being wheeled out by hospital staff.
Speaking to the media, PMO Dr. Hanuman Bairwa said that Dr. Anurag Sharma was officially on leave on Monday and had travelled to Jaipur, but returned the same day.
”What a person does in his personal life is his private matter, but coming to the hospital premises after drinking alcohol is wrong,” said Dr. Hanuman Bairwa to Bhaskar English.
He added that no medical examination has been conducted so far, as the doctor remains on leave. However, he assured that strict action would be taken if such behavior is repeated.
