Rajkot, Gujarat, December 19, 2025: In a significant action to protect public health, the Rajkot District Special Operations Group arrested a man who was illegally practicing medicine in Khodpipar village of Paddhari taluka. The accused had been posing as a qualified doctor and treating patients without holding any recognized medical degree or license. Police seized a large quantity of medicines and medical equipment from the premises during the raid.

Tip Off Exposes Illegal Medical Practice

The operation began after local authorities received specific information about a man running an unauthorized medical practice in the village. Acting swiftly on the tip off, the Rajkot SOG conducted a raid at the location. Officers found the accused actively examining patients and providing treatment despite lacking any formal medical education or legal permission to practice.

Police confirmed that the individual had no valid registration with any medical council. Yet, he was prescribing medicines and administering injections, placing patients at serious risk. Authorities immediately detained him for questioning and initiated legal proceedings.

Medicines and Equipment Confiscated

During the raid, officers recovered a substantial stock of medicines along with medical instruments used for patient care. These items were allegedly being used to create the appearance of a legitimate clinic. Officials believe the seized materials were central to the illegal operation and could have caused harm if left unchecked.

The confiscation of these medicines and tools has helped prevent further misuse and reduced the immediate danger to villagers who may have unknowingly sought treatment from the fake doctor.

Repeat Pattern of Quackery in the Region

This case adds to a growing list of incidents involving unqualified medical practitioners in Rajkot district. Earlier this year, authorities had arrested two individuals operating illegal clinics. One of them had studied only up to Class 10, while the other held a homoeopathic degree but was unlawfully practising allopathic medicine.

In those cases, police seized medical supplies and drugs worth over Rs 32,000. Officials say such incidents highlight how easily untrained individuals exploit gaps in healthcare access, especially in rural and semi urban areas.

Authorities Call for Vigilance

Police and health officials have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on illegal medical practices across Gujarat. They have urged citizens to verify a doctor’s qualifications and registration before seeking treatment, particularly in villages and remote locations.

The investigation in the Rajkot case remains ongoing. Officials are working to determine how long the accused had been operating and whether more people were affected. Law enforcement agencies have stated that similar raids will continue to ensure only qualified professionals provide medical care and that public safety remains a top priority.
