Navi Mumbai, Feb 9, 2026: A 21-year-old woman from Juhu Gaon in Navi Mumbai died after allegedly receiving intravenous injections at her residence from a man who falsely claimed to be a doctor. The incident occurred on February 5, 2026 at the woman’s residence in Sector 11. Police have arrested the accused, who was later found to be a ward boy at a private nursing home.
The fatal episode occurred around 6:00 PM on that day at Giridhar Nivas in Vashi. The victim was identified as Prachiti Bhikuram Bhuvad. She reportedly suffered a severe adverse reaction shortly after receiving intravenous injections and the injection was said to be administered by the accused at her residence.
According to police reports the accused was identified as Sandesh Yashwant Pashte, 30. He works as a ward boy at a private nursing home in Andheri. He visited the victim's home and falsely presented himself as a qualified medical doctor. Without consulting any registered medical practitioner, Pashte allegedly administered Emeset and Dynapar injections intravenously to the young woman.
Shortly after receiving the injections, Prachiti's condition started deteriorating rapidly. Her family rushed her to PKC Hospital in Vashi, where doctors declared her dead before admission. Police suspect that the injections may have triggered a severe adverse reaction. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after post-mortem findings and medical analysis are completed.
Investigating officers revealed that the accused was known to the victim's family and he had previously provided medical assistance to them. Pashte resided in Mankhurd and had established a relationship of trust with the family through prior interactions.
Prachiti had been suffering from Polycystic Ovary Disease (PCOD) and had complained of body ache and vomiting on the day of the incident. Her family then contacted him to their home for treatment.
Following a complaint lodged by the victim's father, Bhikuram Govind Bhuvad, 52, an Accidental Death Report (ADR) was initially registered at Vashi Police Station on February 6, 2026. However, as the investigation progressed, reports revealed that Pashte was not a registered medical practitioner. This led to the conversion of the case to a criminal offense.
A formal case has been registered under Sections 105 and 319(1) =of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The accused was arrested on the same day the case was registered.
Senior Police Inspector Chandekar of Vashi Police Station confirmed the findings: "During our inquiry, it was revealed that the accused is not a registered medical practitioner but was working as a ward boy at a private nursing home. We have registered an offence under Sections 105 and 319 of the BNS and further investigation is underway."
