New Delhi | January 2026: Several candidates appearing for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) December 2025 session have reported receiving conflicting exam centre information through official communication channels, leading to confusion days ahead of the examination scheduled on January 17, 2026.
FMGE is a mandatory screening examination for Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India who have obtained their primary medical qualification from institutions outside India. Candidates must clear the exam to become eligible for registration to practise medicine in India. Due to the importance of the examination, discrepancies in official communication have caused uncertainty among aspirants, particularly those required to travel long distances.
Candidates stated that they received exam centre information through both SMS and email from the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). In several instances, the details mentioned in the two communications did not match.
According to multiple accounts, the SMS indicated one exam city, while the email mentioned a different city altogether. This mismatch raised concerns about which information should be considered accurate for travel and accommodation planning.
Candidates identified the discrepancy after cross-checking messages received from NBEMS. In certain cases, the mismatch involved completely different cities rather than nearby test locations.
Candidates expressed concern that relying on incorrect information could result in reaching the wrong city or exam centre on the day of the examination.
Several FMGE aspirants shared screenshots of the conflicting messages on social media platforms such as X and Reddit, seeking clarification from the examination authority.
A post shared by Dr. Mohammad Momin on X highlighted one such instance of conflicting centre information. Multiple candidates responded to the post, stating that they faced similar issues and were unsure which location to rely on.
Discussions on Reddit forums dedicated to FMGE preparation further suggested that the issue affected a significant number of candidates. Some candidates pointed out that their admit cards had not yet been released when they received the conflicting messages, adding to the uncertainty. Others expressed concern that last-minute confusion could disrupt travel plans.
Candidates also reported attempting to contact official helplines for clarification. According to Careers360, many candidates did not receive immediate confirmation on whether the SMS or email information should be treated as final.
NBEMS has not issued a detailed public clarification specifically addressing the SMS and email mismatch. However, the examination authority has continued to release official updates related to the FMGE December 2025 session through its website and registered communication channels.
Officials have reiterated in past advisories that preliminary communications should not be treated as final confirmation of exam centre details.
Amid the confusion, NBEMS released the FMGE December 2025 city intimation slip in early January 2026. The slip was issued through registered email addresses and mobile numbers.
The city intimation slip informs candidates only about the city in which their examination centre is located. It does not provide the exact test centre address or reporting time. NBEMS has clarified that this document is preliminary in nature.
The detailed FMGE admit card for the December 2025 session is scheduled to be released on January 14, 2026.
The admit card will include:
Exact examination centre address
Reporting time
Exam day instructions
Candidate identification details
The admit card remains the only official document that confirms final exam centre details.
In a separate update, NBEMS extended the deadline for submission of deficient documents related to the FMGE December 2025 session to January 7, 2026.
The extension allows candidates additional time to correct issues such as missing certificates or document format discrepancies identified during verification.
Education and examination guidance sources have reiterated that neither SMS nor email notifications should be used for final travel planning.
Candidates have been advised to:
Rely only on the FMGE admit card for final exam centre details
Regularly check the NBEMS official website for updates
Monitor registered email accounts
Contact NBEMS through official support channels if discrepancies persist after the admit card is released
As of now, candidates continue to await confirmation through the admit card to ensure accurate exam centre details ahead of the FMGE 2025 examination.
