New Delhi, December 15, 2025: In a remarkable display of medical expertise and human compassion, Dr. Anjali Nimbalkar, a former Congress MLA from Khanapur and doctor by profession, saved the life of an American woman aboard a Goa-New Delhi flight on Saturday afternoon, December 13, 2025. The incident has garnered widespread appreciation, including praise from Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Indian National Congress.

The Emergency Unfolds

According to the sources, Dr. Nimbalkar, AICC Secretary co-in-charge of Goa, Daman & Diu, and Dadra Nagar Haveli was traveling to Delhi to attend the Congress party's "Vote Chori" rally at Ramleela Maidan.
The medical crisis began approximately ten minutes after the flight departed from Goa on Saturday afternoon. A 34-year-old American passenger, identified as Jenny, suddenly experienced severe discomfort, complaining of uneasiness and shivering. Within moments, she fainted and lost her pulse that created a life-threatening situation.

Life-Saving Intervention

Drawing upon her medical training and experience, Dr. Nimbalkar promptly administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to the unconscious passenger. Her swift assessment and decisive action proved critical in restoring Jenny's pulse and stabilizing her condition during the flight.

Dr. Nimbalkar remained by Jenny's side throughout the entire journey, continuously paying attention to her medical needs and providing emotional comfort. Upon landing at the capital, Jenny was immediately transferred to a hospital by ambulance, PTI reported.

Widespread Recognition

The incident has resonated across social media and political circles, with many lauding Dr. Nimbalkar's selfless service.

Child and women welfare advocate Divya Gandotra Tandon shared the story on social media platform X, describing it as an act of "duty, courage, and compassion" that "restores faith in humanity."

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his profound appreciation in a heartfelt statement: "Deeply moved and incredibly proud to hear about the remarkable presence of mind and compassion shown by former Khanapur MLA Dr. Anjali Nimbalkar during a Goa–New Delhi flight."

He added, "What makes this even more inspiring is that, despite having stepped away from her medical profession and being actively engaged in politics, the doctor within her responded without a second thought. This selfless act reflects not just professional expertise, but a profound sense of humanity, service, and responsibility toward fellow beings."

The Karnataka Congress also issued a statement saluting Dr. Nimbalkar's actions: "Her decisive intervention saved a life and stood as a powerful reminder that true public service does not pause with office or position. Dr. Anjali Nimbalkar's instinct to step forward in a moment of crisis reflects a lifetime dedicated to service and care for others."

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also said, "Whether in power or not, leaders like Dr. Anjali Nimbalkar stand as shining examples of true public service—always ready to help, without expecting anything in return.
