Bhopal, February 7, 2026: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced a major policy initiative to institutionalize Garbh Sanskar across the state’s government hospitals and universities.
Under the BJP-led government’s plan, dedicated Garbh Sanskar rooms will be set up in government hospitals, and the subject will be introduced in all universities across the state.
According to the Journal of Neonatal Studies, Garbh Sanskar is derived from the Sanskrit words “Garbh” (fetus in the womb) and “Sanskar” (educating the mind), and refers to the concept of educating the mind of the fetus. Rooted in ancient scriptures and Ayurveda, the traditional belief holds that a child’s mental and behavioral development begins at the time of conception.1
The practice suggests that a fetus’s personality starts forming in the womb and can be influenced by the mother’s emotional and mental state during pregnancy. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its affiliated organizations have often stated that Garbh Sanskar helps impart cultural values to babies while they are still in the womb, with the process continuing until the child reaches the age of two.
Speaking at the Divya Santan Prakalp program in Indore on February 1, Chief Minister Yadav described Garbh Sanskar as a tool to empower future generations.
“Even allopathy experts are now acknowledging the importance of Garbh Sanskar. My daughter herself is a gynecologist, and she also practices Garbh Sanskar at her hospital,” Yadav said.
Referring to mythological figures such as Abhimanyu and Ashtavakra, the Chief Minister emphasized that Garbh Sanskar has long held a significant place in Sanatan culture and can help strengthen future generations physically, mentally, and morally.
The Madhya Pradesh government has outlined a comprehensive strategy to implement the initiative:
Garbh Sanskar will be taught in all medical universities across the state
Dedicated Garbh Sanskar rooms will be established in government hospitals practicing both AYUSH and allopathic systems
A book focused on Garbh Sanskar was released during the announcement event
Veteran RSS leader Suresh “Bhaiyyaji” Joshi was also present at the program. Emphasizing the importance of the practice, he stated that young couples should study the subject seriously.
