The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has opened the online application process for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2026. Eligible candidates can submit their applications from July 1 ( 5 PM) until July 21, 2026 (11:55 PM) through the official NBEMS portal. The computer-based examination will be conducted on August 30, 2026, while the result is scheduled to be declared by September 30, 2026.

Along with the application notification, NBEMS has issued an important advisory highlighting changes to the test city selection process and other instructions that candidates should carefully review before completing their applications.

NEET PG 2026: Important Dates

According to the notification issued by NBEMS, the key dates are:

  • Online application begins: July 1, 2026 (5:00 PM)

  • Last date to apply: July 21, 2026 (11:55 PM)

  • Application edit window: July 24 to July 27, 2026

  • Final edit window for deficient or incorrect images: August 7 to August 10, 2026

  • Admit card release: August 27, 2026

  • NEET PG 2026 examination: August 30, 2026

NBEMS Revises Test City Allocation Process

In its advisory, NBEMS announced that exam centres will no longer be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Instead, applicants will be required to select three preferred test states while submitting their application forms. After the application window closes, candidates will receive a separate opportunity to choose their preferred test city through a dedicated test city selection window.

According to NBEMS, test cities will be allotted based on the choices submitted during that window, subject to availability. If a preferred city is unavailable, another city within the selected state will be allotted. Where no seats remain in any city within the chosen state, NBEMS may assign a test centre in a nearby state.

The board advised candidates to carefully select their preferred states while filling out the application form, as this choice will determine the options available during the city selection process.

Guidelines for NEET PG Applicants

NBEMS has instructed candidates to read the Information Bulletin thoroughly before submitting their applications. Applicants should ensure that all personal, academic, and internship details are entered correctly, as incorrect information may lead to rejection of the application or difficulties during later stages of the admission process.

Candidates are also advised to upload photographs, signatures, thumb impressions, and other required documents in the prescribed format. If any uploaded image is found deficient, NBEMS will provide a final correction window in August for rectification.

Computer-Based Examination

NEET PG 2026 will be conducted as a computer-based examination for admission to MD, MS, PG Diploma, and other postgraduate medical programmes for the 2026-27 academic session. The examination will be held at designated centres across India.

Candidates can download their admit card on August 27. The examination is scheduled for August 30, while the results are expected to be announced by September 30.
