'I Have to Do It for Them': NEET PG Aspirant Takes Exam as Parents Remain Missing in Nepal

Tanvi took the NEET PG exam while her parents were missing after devastating floods struck Nepal's border region on August 26. 

She is a NEET PG aspirant and gave the 3-hour NEET PG 2026 exam on August 30. She has posted videos on her Instagram handle regarding her parents who are missing in Nepal. In her video, she shared information about her parents, including their names, the tour company they went with, and their last known location.

Since Tanvi has lost contact with her parents due to the Nepal floods, she has constantly posted updates about the situation on Instagram. Recently, she also posted about her experience taking the NEET PG exam and spoke about being in a deep emotional state while the exam was going on.

She said, “I just knew that my dad wants me to give this exam and I have to do it for him, I have to do it for my parents.”

Tanvi posted her first video about her parents and other Indian tourists missing in Nepal floods on August 29. According to her post on Instagram, her last contact with her parents was at 8:27 am on August 26.

Tanvi’s parents, Venkatraman Annamdevara and Anagha Annamdevara, were on Kailash Yatra with 67 other members. They had gone with a travel company named Richa Tours and Travels. According to Tanvi, the whole 67-member Kailash Yatra group has been missing since the Nepal floods destroyed the area. 

She said the last known location of her parents was at the immigration centre and the Friendship Bridge. She mentioned that the area was completely destroyed due to the floods and since then no one has been able to contact the group.

Tanvi recalled being extremely emotional while giving the NEET PG exam. In her video, she said, “Out of the three-hour exam, I think one-and-a-half hours I spent just crying.” 

She said that she could barely read the questions that appeared on the screen as her vision was so blurry due to all the crying.

She explained that the NEET PG screen showed two photographs, and the admit card picture was taken by her father, which made the whole process even more hurtful for her.

She said, “On the NEET PG screen, the questions you're giving it, right, there are two pictures on that. The admit card photo. And that photo was taken by my dad. And that made NEET PG so much more difficult.”

In an emotional voice in the video, Tanvi remembered that her mother used to feed her curd with sugar as a good luck charm before her exams. 

“The more difficult part was, you know, in the morning before the exam, my mom would usually make dahi shakkar (curd and sugar). And my dad would have wished me luck. It's just that in this exam, that didn't happen,” she said. 

Through her videos, Tanvi has said one thing over and over again, that her parents have to come back and that she has immense faith that they will.
