Q

What do you do?

A

Dr. Chhavi Garg: I'm a Clinical Specialist at MadVR Solutions Private Limited. My role and responsibilities include the development of surgical procedures and tools while working closely with the product team to create detailed and accurate surgical steps, procedures, and tool functionalities within the VR environment for optimal realism and functionality.

Q

What’s the best part of your profession? What made you choose this profession?

A

Dr. Chhavi Garg: My love for human biology and related sciences made me choose MBBS for my bachelor's. The incredible connection between science, empathy, and problem-solving keeps me motivated as a medical professional. More than a doctor, I'm an educator and researcher. While I may be seen as working backstage, it's these efforts that lay the foundation for every breakthrough in patient care. I get to explore, discover, and pass on knowledge that will go on to save lives, improve treatments, and push the boundaries of what we know about the human body. It's a quiet kind of impact, but one that reverberates through every clinic, operating room, and classroom.

Q

Do you like reading? What was the last thing you read?

A

Dr. Chhavi Garg: I love reading mystery and rom-com novels. Reading has always been a safe space for me, and who doesn't love the smell of a new book, right? The last thing I read was The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. It was actually a re-read—maybe the fifth time—after my NEET PG exams. The book is about a girl who has cancer, exploring love, loss, and friendship. Most of you might have seen the movie, but I strongly recommend giving the book a try too. Every page is like poetry, and it consumes you whole.

Q

What is your favorite dish?

A

Dr. Chhavi Garg: Oh, it's my mom's kadhi chawal. She makes the best kadhi chawal in the world, and you cannot convince me otherwise! During my MBBS, there wasn't a single day when I didn't miss those endless bowls of kadhi chawal while trying to swallow the horrible hostel food. Kadhi chawal is comfort. It's home itself.

Q

How would your friends describe you?

A

Dr. Chhavi Garg: Probably a shy and introverted person who likes to sit in the corner chair playing with the house pet at parties. :)

Q

What sports did you play growing up?

A

Dr. Chhavi Garg: I loved basketball in school. Never thought much of it growing up, and the interest faded over time as life got busier. I would sure love to play again sometime.

Q

Your favorite subject(s)?

A

Dr. Chhavi Garg: In school, it was science, English, and Hindi. Literature always felt so intriguing to me, even as a kid, and I always felt like I understood some depth behind literary pieces that no one else seemed to get.

Q

What is your least favourite subject(s)?

A

Dr. Chhavi Garg: Social Studies was awful for me. I hated having to cram stuff for exams in school, and I always struggled with this one god-awful subject.

Q

What’s something you wish to change about the world?

A

Dr. Chhavi Garg: I wish the world were kinder. Imagine a supportive environment where everyone is compassionate and understanding, and you have real connections with the people around you. In this era of LinkedIn connections and Bumble BFFs, I really, really hope for a world where people just talk, express themselves honestly, and listen to others with kindness.

Q

If your journey was/were a movie, what would it be called?

A

Dr. Chhavi Garg: The Hangover. It's not about the drinking, but more about the aftermath of a wild decision and its consequences throughout the movie that makes me feel like that's my life. 😂

Q

What are you passionate about?

A

Dr. Chhavi Garg: Learning and educating. Bringing positive change to the world. Questioning preset rules and breaking unfair systems. I want to stand out and stand up for those who can't.

Q

Best/memorable moment

A

Dr. Chhavi Garg: All 5.5 years of college, actually. College had it all—love, fights, friendships, adventures, everything! My friend group and I survived hell together and created the most cherished memories. From bunking classes and sitting in cafes to going on out-of-city trips, even studying in the library with them was fun. It was a home away from home, and I would not trade the memories I have with them for anything.

Q

If given a choice, what alternate career would you have opted for?

A

Dr. Chhavi Garg: I would be a baker. I've always imagined what it would be like to open a French bakery outside a little city in France with seasonal favorite desserts. I would bake cupcakes and serve them with berry compote or homemade ice cream. Sometimes, I would have karaoke nights in my bakery, where people could just sing their hearts out, surrounded by desserts. That's the dream!

Q

What is your dream travel destination?

A

Dr. Chhavi Garg: In the book The Fault in Our Stars, Hazel and Augustus go on a trip to Amsterdam. The city is depicted with its beautiful canals, charming streets, and rich history, creating a backdrop for their deepening connection. For Hazel, who often feels trapped by her illness, Amsterdam represents freedom and a second chance at life. That's my dream travel destination. Maybe it's the book and my bias towards it, but Amsterdam has to be the first international trip I take.

Q

Where and what kind of workplace would you like to work in future?

A

Dr. Chhavi Garg: My preference will always be working from home. Nothing beats sitting in the comfort of your own home and working in your pajamas!

Q

Finally, a Quote you relate to.

A

Dr. Chhavi Garg: When the show The Office was about to end, Andy (Ed Helms) said, "I wish there was a way to know you’re in the good old days before you’ve actually left them," and I haven't stopped thinking about it since.
