What do you do?
I’m done with medical school and I’m planning to apply for the NRMP (National Resident Matching Program) 2026 residency match this September. I’ve a strong interest towards internal medicine which is the specialty I’m applying to. I have 5+ publications and 2+ volunteer experiences in NSS and Innerwheel club. I also love experimenting with cooking in my free time.
What’s the best part of your profession? What made you choose this profession?
We get to help people get through what might be their most vulnerable phase by being there along every step of the healing process. Being a doctor never hits the mundane because every patient presents with a unique challenge. Building trust and the satisfaction of healing someone is truly rewarding and I would never give it up for anything else.
Do you like reading? What was the last thing you read?
I’m not much of a reader. Atomic habits by James Clear is something I re-read recently. This book helped me get back to on my feet when I couldn’t trust myself.
What is your favorite dish?
I do love ice creams and cookies, but my favourite has to be Biryani! There’s no way a biryani could go wrong, especially when I make it myself.
How would your friends describe you?
My friends usually consider me the “mom of the group”. I’m the one they turn to when they’re having a hard time and I’m also the one they turn to when they’re having crave some fun. I have a very small circle and they’re like family.
What sports did you play growing up?
I was always the first one to run to the ground when it’s time to play. Any sport - you name it, I was always ready to play. But my favourites were throw ball and tennis.
What is your least favourite subject(s)?
I’m not a person who has a ton of memory. So, anatomy gave me a hard time in medical school.
Your favorite subject(s)?
It’s honestly hard to pick. But Internal medicine should be the one because it combines many my favourite subjects: physiology, pathology, microbiology and pharmacology into one.
What’s something you wish to change about the world?
This might be controversial, but I wish more people had common sense. I also wish people were less misogynistic.
If your journey were a movie, what would it be called?
Cooking up life
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about baking and one day, I hope to open my own bakery.
Best/memorable moment
I cherish every moment I made my dad proud.
What do you love to do in your leisure time?
I experiment with new recipes .
What do you hate the most?
I hate it when people say “women” for bad driving or when a woman does or says something stupid or just something that doesn’t make sense. But I also think there are equal number of men who are equally if not worse at driving and speak foolishly. So, I think it’s just people in general who are bad at a few things and great at others.
If given a choice, what alternate career would you have opted for?
I would’ve become a chef without a doubt.
What is your dream travel destination?
I would love to know and learn from all the different cultures around the world. But if I had to name one destination in particular, it’s Switzerland.
Where and what kind of workplace would you like to work in the future?
A healthy atmosphere where every one is given equal opportunity and with people who are friendly.
Finally, a quote you relate to.
"Doubt kills more dreams than future ever will." - Suzy Kassem
