What do you do?
I am currently working as a General Duty Medical Officer in Nankhari, Himachal Pradesh.
What’s the best part of your profession? What made you choose this profession?
The best part is the way in which we get to experience life. I’m currently working in a small village, so the kind of experiences that I’ve had with my patients really take the cake. Back in medical school, the kind of patients that we treated were different, but when I started practicing in a peripheral area, it kind of changed my whole clinical experience because the problems that the people face here are way different from the ones that people from metropolitan areas face. It's a whole new learning experience per se (way different from what they taught us back in medical school), and to be honest, it’s frustrating sometimes, but it actually also teaches you a lot about life and people in general. Also, everyone kind of knows you, so you’re treated like a celebrity.
