A

Currently pursuing M Pharm, 2nd Year and doing an internship in MedBound Times.

What’s the best part of your profession? What made you choose this profession?

A

As you know, pharmacology is the Study of pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics. In simpler terms, what body does to drug and what drug does to body. This subject creates curiosity within students to explore and find out how the drug exerts its action and where the target sites are on our body. I love to find out the mechanism of action of drug and perform animal studies.

Are you happy/satisfied with the current scenario of pharmacy education in India?

A

No, currently pharmacists are not given the respect that they deserve. A student from MSc, Commerce is also seen working in the pharmaceutical industry leaving no job option for real pharmacy students.

What can be done to improve education and the profession in this sector?

A

I recommend that the Pharmacy Council launch initiatives to increase student interest in pharmacy as a career and enhance the professional reputation of the field. These programs should include technical training and hands-on analytical practice to better prepare students for successful careers in the pharmaceutical sector.

What are some fun facts about pharmacy that you want the readers to know?

A

1) Don't be scared of long structures of drugs in Medicinal Chemistry.

2) Biochemistry is easy 😄

3) You will love Pharmacology once you pursue it and gain some important knowledge.

What do you think about current industry / job scenario?

A

Job Opportunities in the Pharma Sector is growing day by day but to gain job you require experience and referrals. Without those, you can only land jobs in your local area or small third-party companies.

What are the challenges that you face in your day-to-day life?

A

1) I'm an Introvert so it's tough for me to communicate with people, mainly on phone calls.

2) It's hard to find job in your local area with salary more than 18k.

3) My overthinking influences all my decisions.

What is the salary one can expect after completing D. Pharm/B. Pharm/M. Pharm as a fresher?

A

Freshers are selected for entry level jobs with starting salary of 10k. Rarely some company offer salary more than 18k but in most scenarios, candidates with more experience gets salary of more than 25k only.

What are your views on the EXIT exam for getting registered as a pharmacist?

A

This exam is necessary for Pharm D students to get Pharmacist license and to get officially registered as a pharmacist. It's a good way to test candidate knowledge and see whether he is competent for healthcare sector or not.

A

Yes.

A

No idea because I'm still studying.
