In a recent case of alleged medical negligence, a 15-year-old girl from Rasidpur village, Bihar, died due to a delay in treatment. The family of Pinky Kumari says they had to wait for an hour before her treatment began, even while she was crying in pain.

What happened to the girl?

The girl allegedly fell unconscious around 11 pm on Wednesday because of loud DJ music during a wedding ritual nearby. The neighbors had a procession with a DJ, and when Pinky went out to see it, she fainted on the spot. Seeing this, her family immediately took her to Sadar Hospital on their bike.

The sequence of events at the hospital

Pinky’s father, a rickshaw puller, said that when they reached the hospital, only formalities were done in the name of treatment. Even though Pinky was crying in pain, no one started her treatment.

Motilal Shah, Pinky’s uncle, accused the hospital of medical negligence. He said Dr. Ashish Kumar only started treating Pinky after about an hour, despite seeing her condition.

Pinky’s health background

Pinky was suffering from heart disease and was also treated at the Pant Hospital in Delhi earlier. Her father, Pramod, used to arrange medicines worth around ₹1,500 every week by driving a rickshaw.

Family demands justice

After these events, the family demanded that the hospital administration check the CCTV footage and take necessary action against the hospital staff and doctors. They protested angrily, raising slogans outside the hospital. Many locals joined them in large numbers, demanding strict action against the doctor as soon as possible. The family wants justice for their deceased girl. They want the doctors to be held accountable for allegedly taking the life of an innocent.

Rajan Nandan Singh, Chairman of Nagar Parishad, also reached the hospital after hearing about the incident. He called it a clear case of negligence by the doctor and hospital. He assured the family and protesters that he would meet the district officer and ensure that action is taken against the concerned authorities.

Police arrived promptly and helped calm the situation, pacifying the protesters and locals gathered there.

What next?

The family said they don’t know what will happen next, but they hope for justice.
