Several Women Suffer Seizures, Fever After Injection at Burdwan Medical College
A serious medical incident occurred at Burdwan Medical College and Hospital, where 12-15 patients in the maternity ward suffered severe adverse reactions after receiving injections. The situation raises significant concerns about adherence to clinical protocol and patient safety.
Patients became seriously ill after the injection:
Serious complications arose on Monday evening after several women were allegedly injected in the maternity ward of the Burdwan Medical College and Hospital. About 12 to 15 patients experienced high fever and seizures immediately after administration.
Families' Point of View:
Joydev Mandal, whose wife Pooja recently gave birth, said she was given four injections, after which she started shaking. When he questioned the medical staff, they allegedly refused to answer.
Sheikh Rahmatullah, the husband of another affected patient, said that he left his wife in a stable condition around 6 pm. But later, a call came that he was suffering from severe seizures and a high fever. He claimed that the problem was a result of "incorrect injection" and alleged that security personnel prevented him from watching.
My wife is admitted here. I left home around 6 pm, seeing her fine. Suddenly, I got a call that my wife was having severe seizures and a high fever. Later, I came to know that the seizures were due to a wrong injection. When we went to see her, the security personnel pushed me out. Apart from my wife, about 12 to 15 patients had the same issue.

Similarly, Sabal Das, whose wife was admitted to the delivery ward, said she suffered seizures after three injections were administered by allegedly untrained medical staff.
My spouse is admitted to the delivery ward. I spoke to her a while ago. Suddenly, I got news that she was having seizures due to a fever. I heard three injections were administered to her at once by non-trained medical staff.

The Hospital's Response
Hospital officials suggested that an allergic reaction caused the symptoms but assured that all patients are now stable. An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the adverse reaction.
After injection, something could happen due to an allergy. However, all the patients are fine now. The matter is being investigated.
