A tragic incident at the district hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Mainpuri sparked widespread outrage after the death of a 60-year-old woman, Parvesh Kumari, due to cardiac arrest due to the alleged negligence of an on-duty doctor. The incident took place on Tuesday when Kumari was brought to the emergency ward by her family around noon. Despite his critical condition, the doctor, identified as Dr Adarsh Sanger, reportedly remained seated at his desk, engrossed in watching a reel on his phone, while nurses tended to the patient.

Reels over Patient!?

According to media coverage in India, CCTV footage that has since gone viral purportedly shows Dr. Sanger sitting at his desk, looking at his phone while nurses try to assist Kumari. The footage also captured a shocking moment when the doctor allegedly slapped the victim's son, Guru Sharan Singh, after he protested the delay in treatment.

Family’s Testimony

Hospital CCTV footage allegedly shows the doctor glued to his mobile phone, ignoring the family's repeated pleas for immediate medical intervention. Singh and his brothers had rushed their mother, Pravesh Kumari, to the emergency ward, expecting urgent medical care. Instead of going to Kumari in person, he allegedly directed a nurse to handle the situation. As his condition worsened, his son, Guru Sharan Singh, and other family members tried to revive him by rubbing his arms and legs. However, when he started bleeding from the mouth, the doctor eventually stood up — but instead of helping, he allegedly slapped Singh, causing chaos in the hospital.

Singh claimed that the doctor dismissed his mother's condition as a minor ailment and failed to provide timely care, resulting in her death.
