On August 21, a 71-year-old man passed away in Ramban district due to the absence of medical personnel to administer CPR at a hospital, according to an official report. Ghulam Nabi Bhat, who had Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, was taken to the Sub-District Hospital in Banihal by his son, Altaf Ahmad. However, due to the lack of available doctors or paramedical staff, his son had to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on him.
A video showing the son attempting to revive his father on a hospital bed has gone viral. Half an hour after arriving at the hospital, Bhat was taken to the casualty room, where he was pronounced dead, according to a family member. Chief Medical Officer of Ramban, Kamal Jee Zadoo, has initiated an inquiry into the incident. Zadoo stated, "This office has received a video showing an attendant performing CPR on a patient in the casualty room, with no doctor present at the time. To determine the facts of the complaint, a two-member committee has been formed to conduct a thorough investigation." District Health Officer Mohd Iqbal Malik and Medical Officer Mohd Syed have been appointed as the inquiry officers, with a report due within two days.
