Man Finds Live Worm In Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate, Company Responds
A Hyderabad man finds a live worm crawling in a Cadbury dairy milk chocolate bar that he purchased from a store at Ameerpet metro station. He shared his experience on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) through a video and the post went viral.
Robin Zaccheus, a resident of Hyderabad, purchased a Cadbury dairy milk roast almond from Ratnadeep Retail Store at Ameerpet metro station in the city and found live worm crawling in the chocolate bar. He shared the incident on the X platform by tagging Dairy Milk India, Greater Municipal Corporation (GHMC), and Ratnadeep Retail. In his shared video, he expressed that, "Found a worm crawling in Cadbury chocolate purchased at Ratnadeep Metro Ameerpet today. Is there a quality check for these near to expiry products? Who is responsible for public health hazards?". He posted the video along with the bill of Rs. 45 chocolate that he purchased from Ratnadeep Retail. The incident happened on Feb 9, 2024.
The post went viral and loaded with a lot of comments from users. The Cadbury dairy milk company also responded to Robin’s X post and expressed apologies- "Hi, Mondelez India Foods Private Limited (formerly Cadbury India Ltd) endeavours to maintain the highest quality standards, and we regret to note that you have had an unpleasant experience. To enable us to address your concern, please write to us at Suggestions@mdlzindia.com providing us with your full name, address, phone number and purchase details. To enable us to action your complaint we request all these details. Thank you, Consumer Conversation, Mondelez India Foods Private Limited (formerly Cadbury India Ltd)."
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation also reacted and said that the concerned food safety team has been alerted on this issue and the same will be resolved at the earliest.
The video got the attention of many users and they responded in different ways. One user said to sue them and claim compensation. Another responded that it looked like the chocolate didn't have a double wrapping. The reason why dairy milk is always double wrapped (golden foil + white paper wrap) is to avoid worms get inside.
