A medical miracle was achieved at Maharaja Tukojirao Hospital (MTH), which is a unit of MGM Medical College, when surgeons successfully removed an 8-kilogram tumor from the abdomen of a 15-year-old girl.

Young patient Renuka, a Sardarpur resident, was in agony with intense abdominal pain for a long time. But economic constraints did not allow her father, Prakash Parmar, to opt for special treatment initially. He finally managed to get to MTH Hospital, where the medical team diagnosed her condition immediately and initiated emergency treatment.

Diagnosis and Medical Challenges:

During the investigations by Dr. Sumitra Yadav and her team, physicians found that there was a huge swelling in Renuka's abdomen. The tumor was so big that it was leading to severe breathing problems and also limiting her mobility. Further tests, including an MRI scan, revealed a humongous ovarian tumor measuring 36x12x24 cm.

According to the report submitted by Dr. Yadav, the abnormal growth raised suspicions of possible malignancy. She emphasized that early diagnosis could have possibly prevented this extensive tumor formation. Renuka's parents, who are farmers with negligible medical knowledge, did not even suspect the intensity of her condition. While she was suffering mildly for some period of time, they approached doctors only when pain had increased significantly in the last two months and breathing problems surfaced alongside.

A High-Risk Surgical Procedure:

Since the girl was very young and had low hemoglobin, the surgery was very risky. Such a large tumor had to be removed with maximum care because any attempt to force or move it could lead to its rupture, which would be highly dangerous. Also, the tumor's fragile membrane complicated the procedure further.

In spite of all these problems, Dr. Yadav and her team expertly carried out the operation, successfully removing the huge tumor without any complications. As a safety precaution, the infected ovary was removed entirely to avoid any future complications.

Swift Recovery and Family’s Gratitude:

Surprisingly, Renuka recovered at an early rate in one day since the operation. She could breathe comfortably and smiled even at the hospital staff, attesting to the success of the surgery.

Dr. Yadav reiterated the need for early medical treatment and encouraged individuals to undergo sonography at the first sign of unexplained stomach pain. She urged the public to seek medical attention promptly to avoid severe health complications in the future.

The girl's family said they were extremely grateful to Dr. Yadav and the entire medical staff, calling them their heroes. They said that no hospital in their town was willing to take the case, and financial problems kept them from being able to afford private treatment.
