After viewing YouTube videos, a 15-year-old girl who was allegedly a victim of sexual exploitation gave birth to a girl and killed the newborn at her home in Nagpur, Maharashtra, according to the police. The 9th standard girl had become pregnant after she was allegedly raped by a man she met on Instagram.
By claiming she had some health issues, the girl hid the baby bump from her mother.
In order to keep the situation a secret, the girl, who lived in the neighborhood of Ambazari, came up with the idea of delivering the baby by herself by watching YouTube videos. She gave birth to a girl on March 2nd at her house before killing the baby by strangling her and hiding the body in a box.
Later when the mother of the girl returned from work, she was shocked to see blood stains in the room. She noticed that her daughter seemed worn out and pallid as well. Initially, the girl attempted to lie to her mother by telling her that the blood stains were caused by her period, but she later broke down and explained the whole ordeal.
Ambazari cops were informed by the doctors at Mayo Hospital after the mother rushed the minor there for medical help.
The man allegedly enticed the minor to meet him under the pretense of becoming friends. Then the man had brought her to a friend's house, where he had forced himself on her after forcing her to drink alcohol.
The newborn’s body was later sent for post-mortem.
A complaint has been filed under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act.
The police have reported a case of accidental death for the foetus, and they are awaiting the results of the post-mortem to determine whether the baby was stillborn or killed later to invoke the murder charges.
