Pilot Helps A Woman to Deliver Baby in Mid-Flight

The passengers praised the pilot for quick thinking and strength.

A pilot who was flying a Vietjet plane from Taipei, Taiwan to Bangkok, Thailand helped a woman deliver her baby in the mid-flight, both the baby and mother were ensured to be safe.

Captain Jakarin Sararnraskul, a pilot with 18 years of experience, flying a Vietjet flight, that is traveling from Taipei to Bangkok. While in mid-flight he was met with a medical emergency. The cabin crew informed him that a woman passenger on the flight was in labor in one of the flight bathrooms. Jakarin Sararnraskul, who was piloting the flight, understood the emergency and left the cockpit, leaving his female co-pilot in charge of flying the airplane and gushed to check out the woman and found that the woman was in active labor.

Sarnarnraskul informed the issue and asked the passengers if any doctors were on the flight. Sadly, there were no doctors present on the flight. Sarnarnraskul with no medical experience decided to take charge of the medical emergency. The Captain followed the instructions to deliver a baby online on his mobile phone. He soon reached the woman's side and helped to deliver a baby while the plane was at a height of 30,000 feet in the air.

Both the mother and baby were ascertained to be safe and healthy.  The crew nicknamed the baby “Sky” for his unique birth story in the sky. The pilot shared the news on his Instagram social media platform and a picture of him and the baby.

Sarnarnraskul said he feels so proud that he could help bring the baby into the world. He also said that the baby would be able to tell everyone for the rest of his life that he was born in the air.
