The 41-second film, generated with artificial intelligence (AI), erroneously claims that diabetes has been eradicated in India and encourages viewers to say goodbye to the disease.
The doctored video, posted on February 26 by the Facebook account 'Grace Garsia,' received tremendous attention, with 225,000 views and 120 shares. The accompanying thumbnails plainly said, "Bharat me Madhumeh par vijay prapt ki gai hai." Diabetes was overcome in India. Say goodbye to diabetes."
Inspector Mohammed Muslim Khan, stationed at the DGP office's cyber police station in Hazratganj, took immediate action by filing a FIR against 'Grace Garsia' under IPC sections 419 (cheating by impersonation), 420 (cheating), 511 (attempted offense), and section 66 of the IT Act, 2008.
The complainant detailed how the modified video was hosted on the Facebook profile, with AI techniques used to change Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's audio and voice narration. The fake video deceptively advertised the purchase of the supposed diabetes treatment via a website, saying it was created by Indian scientists.
Additionally, the Chief Minister could be heard in the film stating that Indian scientists created the medication and that anyone purchasing it through the website will be honored by God, the inspector said, offering a link to the incriminating video and the Facebook page.
