A shocking incident has come to light from Begusarai, Bihar, in which a doctor is said to have conducted surgery on a pregnant woman via a video call, which resulted in her tragic demise. The news has triggered outrage across the country after a WhatsApp message about the incident went viral, and Local 18 decided to investigate the matter.
As per the viral message posted in a WhatsApp group titled 'Begusarai Breaking,' Dr. Sanjay Chaudhary, who was said to be in Delhi then, guided his assistants remotely through the procedure over a video call. The procedure took place at his private clinic in Begusarai and resulted in fatal consequences for the woman. The incident occurred in Modhrapur, within the Teghra police station’s jurisdiction.
Sources indicate that the woman was brought to Dr. Chaudhary’s clinic after the medical officer at Teghra Sub-Divisional Hospital went on leave. In his absence, the doctor’s untrained staff allegedly carried out the procedure under his remote supervision. When the woman passed away, her family members, enraged by the situation, stormed the clinic in protest. However, both the doctor and his team reportedly fled the scene, abandoning the facility.
District Magistrate (DM) Tushar Singhla confirmed to Local 18 that an official investigation is underway. So far, the victim’s family has not made any public statements, but local residents suspect foul play. There are allegations that the Teghra police attempted to suppress the case.
Reports indicate that the authorities expedited the cremation of the victim's body, sparking allegations of a possible cover-up. Locals feel that a substantial amount of money might have changed hands between the doctor, the police, and the family of the deceased woman to avoid further questioning.
This is not the first controversy surrounding Dr. Chaudhary’s clinic. Sources claim that similar incidents have taken place before but were allegedly hushed up. Social activists have strongly condemned the matter. "If these accusations are true, this is an appalling case of medical negligence."
