How MedBound Times Helped Jithin Paul Rediscover His Passion for Writing(5 / 5)

As someone with no prior experience in medical or healthcare journalism, I had my doubts about whether this internship at MedBound Times would be beneficial for my career. However, at this moment, I can confidently say that these three months have greatly boosted my confidence in my writing skills and taught me how vast the medical writing sector is. I truly enjoyed the freedom and opportunities I was given as part of the internship.

My Work and Responsibilities at MedBound Times

Throughout the internship, I had the opportunity to immerse myself in the dynamic world of medical writing, blending my passion for biotechnology with writing. My major responsibilities included:

● Translating complex healthcare content into easily comprehensible, engaging articles for diverse audiences.

● Conducting precise research and fact-checking to maintain the integrity of published articles.

● Analyzing the target audience to ensure the social significance of the topics being published.

● Reporting up-to-date health-related news in a simplified manner.

● Connecting with experienced professionals for insights on relevant medical topics.

Skills Developed

Throughout the internship, I honed several key skills, including:

Medical content creation: I learned to create healthcare content tailored to specific audiences.

Time management skills: Meeting article deadlines (especially for rehash articles) helped me gain confidence in my time management abilities.

Grammatical range and accuracy: Though I already had strong grammatical accuracy, the weekly grammar classes by Ms. Himani helped me expand my grammatical range and lexical resources. They also helped me avoid common mistakes in my writing.

Research skills: The need for precise content instilled in me the habit of in-depth research and fact-checking.

Another significant outcome of the internship was that I regained my love for reading, which I had lost during my college years.

Major Challenges

As someone new to the field of medical writing, I initially found it challenging to create precise content. However, feedback from editors helped me overcome this setback. Additionally, I struggled to connect and socialize with professionals, as I was not in the habit of doing so during my college days.

The Pro Bono Medical Journalism Internship has been an invaluable experience, shaping my skills and reinforcing my passion for medical journalism. I am grateful for the guidance and mentorship I received from Ms. Himani Negi, Ms. M Subha Maheswari, and all others.

I am certain that these three months at MedBound Times have been nothing short of transformative. I believe I can contribute further to this thriving field of medical journalism and make a meaningful impact on society.

Jithin Paul
