Key Highlights: NBEMS Guinness World Record AI Healthcare Training

NBEMS set a Guinness World Record after 17,999 doctors attended an artificial intelligence healthcare livestream training programme.

The record was achieved during a nationwide AI healthcare masterclass conducted on February 18, 2024, for medical professionals.

The six month NBEMS AI training programme includes 20 modules covering clinical applications, medical data analysis, and healthcare technology.

Faculty from Harvard University, Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru, and IIM Lucknow contributed to the artificial intelligence training initiative.

The programme highlights growing adoption of artificial intelligence and digital learning in medical education and clinical practice in India.

New Delhi: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has entered the Guinness World Records after 17,999 doctors attended a live masterclass on artificial intelligence in healthcare simultaneously on YouTube. Guinness World Records confirmed the achievement as the largest attendance for an artificial intelligence lesson livestream on the platform.

NBEMS conducted the livestream on February 18, 2024, as part of its national artificial intelligence training programme for medical professionals. Guinness World Records adjudicator Swapnil Dangarikar verified the record after reviewing livestream attendance data, technical metrics, and compliance with Guinness requirements. Guinness World Records formally confirmed and awarded the record following this verification process.

NBEMS AI Healthcare Training Programme Includes Six Month Structured Curriculum

NBEMS organized the livestream as part of a six-month structured training programme focused on artificial intelligence applications in healthcare. The course includes 20 academic modules designed to help registered medical practitioners understand artificial intelligence concepts and their practical use in clinical care, research, and healthcare administration.

The programme aims to build technical literacy among doctors so they can safely and effectively use artificial intelligence tools. These tools can assist physicians in interpreting radiological images, supporting clinical decision making, predicting disease risks, and improving healthcare delivery systems.

NBEMS offered the programme free of cost to registered medical practitioners across India to promote access to emerging healthcare technologies and strengthen capacity in digital health.

NBEMS AI Training Programme Includes Faculty From Harvard, IISc, and IIM

Experts from national and international academic institutions contribute to the programme. Faculty includes professionals from Harvard University, the Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru, and the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow. These collaborations support scientifically grounded and clinically relevant training.

The programme delivers training through structured online lectures and academic sessions that allow doctors to participate remotely. This format enables working healthcare professionals to upgrade their knowledge while continuing clinical practice.

NBEMS and National Medical Commission Leaders Oversaw AI Training Initiative

Dr. Abhijat Sheth, President of NBEMS and Chairman of the National Medical Commission, conceptualized and led the initiative. NBEMS designed the programme to prepare doctors for the growing role of artificial intelligence in modern healthcare systems.

Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Governing Body Member of NBEMS, and Dr. AVS Suresh coordinated the programme with academic experts and technical teams to ensure nationwide participation and academic delivery.

NBEMS implemented the initiative using a digital learning model to reach doctors across urban and rural regions. The approach allowed doctors from different healthcare settings to participate simultaneously.

How Artificial Intelligence Is Transforming Clinical Practice and Medical Decision Making

Artificial intelligence refers to computer systems that can analyze data, identify patterns, and assist with decision making. In healthcare, artificial intelligence can help doctors analyze medical images, identify disease patterns, support diagnosis, and improve hospital workflow efficiency.

Artificial intelligence systems can also assist in early disease detection, clinical risk prediction, and healthcare data management. However, doctors require proper training to understand how to use these systems appropriately and interpret their outputs safely in clinical practice.

The NBEMS programme provides structured education on artificial intelligence fundamentals, clinical applications, and implementation considerations to support safe and effective use in healthcare settings.

NBEMS Guinness World Record Highlights Growth of Digital Medical Education in India

NBEMS developed the artificial intelligence training programme as part of its broader effort to prepare healthcare professionals for technology driven healthcare delivery. Participants who complete the programme receive formal training exposure in artificial intelligence applications in healthcare, supporting continued professional development in emerging medical technologies.

The record breaking participation represents one of the largest coordinated artificial intelligence training efforts for doctors and reflects the expanding integration of digital education in India’s medical training ecosystem.
