New Delhi: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has entered the Guinness World Records after 17,999 doctors attended a live masterclass on artificial intelligence in healthcare simultaneously on YouTube. Guinness World Records confirmed the achievement as the largest attendance for an artificial intelligence lesson livestream on the platform.
NBEMS conducted the livestream on February 18, 2024, as part of its national artificial intelligence training programme for medical professionals. Guinness World Records adjudicator Swapnil Dangarikar verified the record after reviewing livestream attendance data, technical metrics, and compliance with Guinness requirements. Guinness World Records formally confirmed and awarded the record following this verification process.
NBEMS organized the livestream as part of a six-month structured training programme focused on artificial intelligence applications in healthcare. The course includes 20 academic modules designed to help registered medical practitioners understand artificial intelligence concepts and their practical use in clinical care, research, and healthcare administration.
The programme aims to build technical literacy among doctors so they can safely and effectively use artificial intelligence tools. These tools can assist physicians in interpreting radiological images, supporting clinical decision making, predicting disease risks, and improving healthcare delivery systems.
NBEMS offered the programme free of cost to registered medical practitioners across India to promote access to emerging healthcare technologies and strengthen capacity in digital health.

Dr. Abhijat Sheth, President of NBEMS and Chairman of the National Medical Commission, conceptualized and led the initiative. NBEMS designed the programme to prepare doctors for the growing role of artificial intelligence in modern healthcare systems.
Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Governing Body Member of NBEMS, and Dr. AVS Suresh coordinated the programme with academic experts and technical teams to ensure nationwide participation and academic delivery.
