Megan Thee Stallion was hospitalised after falling ill during a live performance of Moulin Rouge! The Musical in New York City on Tuesday night. The incident occurred midway through the show, prompting her early exit and subsequent medical evaluation.
The rapper, whose real name is Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, later shared on social media that she experienced symptoms severe enough to make her feel as though she might faint on stage. Despite attempting to continue, she was unable to complete the performance.
According to statements from her representatives, Megan was taken to a local hospital after she “started feeling very ill.” Medical professionals identified the cause of her symptoms as a combination of extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction, and low metabolic levels.
She has since received treatment, been discharged, and is currently resting. Her team confirmed that she is in stable condition and recovering.
From a clinical perspective, exhaustion and dehydration can significantly impact cardiovascular and metabolic function. Dehydration reduces circulating blood volume, while vasoconstriction, narrowing of blood vessels can further affect oxygen delivery to tissues.
When combined with low metabolic reserves, these factors may lead to dizziness and near-syncope (fainting episodes), especially during physically demanding performances.

Megan Thee Stallion recently made her Broadway debut in the role of Harold Zidler, the eccentric master of ceremonies in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, beginning performances on March 24. The role involves sustained physical activity, vocal exertion, and high-energy stage presence, all of which can place significant physiological demands on performers.
In her statement, she acknowledged that she had been “pushing past her limits” and “running on empty,” suggesting cumulative fatigue as a contributing factor. High-performance schedules, particularly when transitioning between music and theatre, can increase the risk of burnout and physical strain.
Despite the incident, Megan confirmed that she plans to return to the Broadway stage shortly. She is scheduled to resume her role on Thursday, indicating a relatively quick recovery following medical care and rest.
Her representatives noted that she is grateful for the support she has received and is focused on returning to full performance capacity.
Megan Thee Stallion gained widespread recognition through viral freestyle videos before achieving mainstream success with projects such as Fever (2019) and Suga (2020). She is known for hit songs including “Savage,” “WAP,” and “Body.”
In 2021, she won three Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist, further establishing her as a prominent figure in contemporary hip-hop.
