United States, January 17, 2026: On January 15, 2026, Superfoods, Inc. announced a recall of all Live it Up-brand Super Greens dietary supplement powder after agreeing to voluntarily recall the contaminated product on January 14, 2026. The recall includes products with expiration dates ranging from August 2026 to January 2028. Both original and wild berry flavors are affected, with certain lots sold in bag and stick-pack formats.

The recalled products were sold primarily through the company’s website and major online retailers, including Amazon, eBay, and Walmart.

Outbreak Timeline and Case Distribution

The FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in coordination with state and local health officials, began investigating the outbreak after identifying cases of Salmonella Typhimurium infection.

Reported illnesses occurred between August 22, 2025, and December 30, 2025. The 45 confirmed cases across 21 states, including Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, and others. Twelve individuals required hospitalization. No deaths have been reported.

According to the FDA, “Sixteen of 20 ill persons with available information reported consuming Live it Up-brand Super Greens dietary supplement powder before becoming ill.”

Understanding Salmonella Infection

According to the FDA, Salmonella infection typically develops within 12 to 72 hours after consuming contaminated food.

The CDC states that symptoms commonly include diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps lasting four to seven days. Most individuals recover without medical treatment. However, children under five years old, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems are at higher risk of severe illness.

Recommendations from FDA and CDC

The FDA and CDC have issued the following guidance for consumers and retailers:

  • Do not consume any recalled Live it Up Super Greens supplement powders with expiration dates from August 2026 to January 2028.

  • Wash items and surfaces that may have come into contact with the recalled products using hot, soapy water or a dishwasher.

  • Contact a healthcare provider if you develop symptoms of Salmonella infection after consuming the recalled supplement.

When to Seek Medical Care

Health authorities advise seeking immediate medical attention if symptoms include:

  • Diarrhea accompanied by a fever higher than 102°F

  • Diarrhea lasting more than three days without improvement

  • Bloody diarrhea

  • Severe vomiting that prevents keeping liquids down

  • Signs of dehydration, such as decreased urination, dry mouth and throat, or dizziness when standing
