London: Dr. Rahmeh Aladwan, a British Palestinian NHS doctor and trainee trauma surgeon, has been arrested four times in less than three months in the UK over allegations linked to anti Semitic content and extremist related speech. The case has triggered intense debate across Britain, raising questions about where free speech ends and hate speech begins, especially when the person involved holds a trusted medical role.
Police say the arrests relate to public order concerns and alleged online content that could be interpreted as supporting banned groups or promoting racial hatred. Aladwan has denied wrongdoing and says she is being targeted for speaking out on Palestine.
UK authorities reportedly arrested Aladwan on four separate occasions since October 2025. The arrests took place on October 21, December 4, December 22, and again on January 15, 2026.
In the latest incident, officers arrived at her home outside London and took her into custody. Aladwan later claimed the arrests felt like harassment and said the repeated police action has disrupted her personal and professional life.
After each arrest, authorities released her on bail. Reports also say her bail conditions included restrictions related to social media activity and limitations on attending certain Palestine related events in central London.
The controversy centers on social media posts and public remarks that critics say crossed the line into antisemitism and extremist messaging. Complaints reportedly highlighted statements and language seen as offensive to Jewish communities and inflammatory in tone.
Some reports claim Aladwan made comments comparing Israelis to Nazis and used harsh descriptions about her workplace. She has also faced allegations of supporting the October 7 Hamas attacks, including claims that she framed the attack as a humiliation for Israel. These accusations intensified public backlash and led to more scrutiny from authorities.
Her critics argue that such statements risk spreading hate and could damage public trust in healthcare professionals.
Aladwan has consistently rejected claims that she is antisemitic or that she supports violence. She says she speaks from a political and humanitarian standpoint and that her posts focus on solidarity with Palestinians.
In her public statements, she has described the repeated arrests as an attempt to silence her voice. She has also argued that political speech should not be treated as criminal behavior when it does not directly encourage harm.
Beyond the police investigation, the case has also affected Aladwan’s medical career. Reports say a professional tribunal suspended her from medical practice for 15 months while investigations continue. The General Medical Council is also reviewing the complaints to determine whether her conduct breached professional standards.
