Vadodara: Three members of the same family were found dead in their house on October 28. The mother and her 2 adult children were found hanging from the ceiling fan.
The family lived in the Narsinhji ni Pol area of the old city in Ahmedabad. Their bodies were found in the same residence on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased are identified as Aarti Soni (47), her son Nilkanth (27) and her daughter Jinny (22).
According to the reports, Aarti’s husband Chetan also died due to a heart attack last year.
According to the reports, the family’s financial condition deteriorated after Chetan’s death. Nilkanth had to return to Vadodara from Canada, and Jinny ran their Ayurvedic hospital in the city.
During their preliminary investigation, city police discovered various banking and financial documents at the deceased's home, including a notice for an outstanding car loan.
No suicide note has been found at their residence.
The incident came to light when a domestic helper visited the Soni residence at 4:30 pm on Wednesday. She rang the bell at the main door a few times and even knocked continuously; however, after getting no response, she decided to contact Ketan Shah, who is a family friend as well as a business partner of the Soni Family.
Ketan repeatedly knocked on the door and tried to call; however, when no one answered, he entered the house using a spare key.
Ketan told TOI that, “I saw Aarti, Nilkanth and Jainy hanging from the ceiling fan in the hall. I immediately rushed out to inform others and the police.”
According to the reports, Ketan said that he had spoken to Aarti a few days ago and he could not identify whether she was going through any kind of stress.
He said, “In fact, she was talking about expanding their hospital. I have no idea why the family took such a step.”
