Ajanta Pharmaceuticals' Domestic Dermatology Cluster conducted a nationwide sun protection awareness initiative between April 6 and April 24, 2026. The programme screened 25,041 patients through a doctor-led skin screening application and involved 1,842 dermatologists across India.
The campaign, conducted under the banner "Think Sun-Protection. Trust Ajanta Dermatology," focused on promoting responsible sun-care practices, encouraging sunscreen use, and educating patients about the risks associated with ultraviolet (UV) exposure. More than 1,800 dermatologists participated in the initiative, helping screen over 25,000 patients across multiple locations in India.
According to the India Book of Records, the initiative achieved the highest number of patient screenings conducted through a doctor-driven skin screening application for sun protection awareness.
As part of the initiative, patients received educational materials and underwent UV patch tests to help illustrate the effects of sun exposure on skin health. The programme focused on encouraging regular sunscreen use and improving sun safety awareness.
Prolonged exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation can contribute to skin damage, pigmentation changes, and premature skin ageing. Through patient education activities, the campaign sought to promote preventive skin care and reduce awareness gaps around sun-related skin concerns.
Ajanta Dermatology stated that the campaign was designed to encourage proactive conversations around skin protection and preventive dermatological care while leveraging technology-enabled patient engagement to create awareness on a large scale. The initiative reached patients across multiple locations in India through the participation of dermatologists nationwide.
