A government doctor from Ludhiana, Dr. Sunny Ashok, unexpectedly found himself stepping into the world of cinema after visiting a film set to provide medical care.

The incident occurred during the shooting of the Bollywood blockbuster film Dhurandhar 2 Revenge, which features actors including Ranveer Singh and Arjun Rampal.

On-Set Injury During High-Speed Scene

During filming, actor Arjun Rampal was involved in a minor accident in Punjab, resulting in a head injury on 8 July 2025 while performing a high-speed chase sequence near a railway track. Worried crew asked for assistance from Dr. Sunny Ashok, who serves at a government health facility in Kalakh village near Ludhiana.

Dr. Sunny Ashok was called in to examine the actor and assess any potential injuries.

Upon evaluation, Dr. Ashok conducted a clinical assessment to rule out serious injury. Dr. Ashok checked his reflexes and everything appeared to be normal. After examination, Arjun Rampal was cleared of significant harm and deemed fit.

Such on-set medical evaluations are essential in film productions, particularly during action sequences, to ensure:

  • Immediate response to injuries

  • Prevention of complications

  • Safe continuation of filming

From Doctor to On-Screen Appearance

Following the consultation, Dr. Ashok requested a selfie with the film’s lead actor, Ranveer Singh. In response, the actor reportedly remarked, “Why just a picture? We’ll cast you in the film.” Assuming it to be a lighthearted comment, Dr. Ashok continued with his routine duties.

However, a few days later, while filming was underway near Sahnewal Airport, Ludhiana, the production team contacted Dr. Ashok and invited him to the set. He was subsequently offered a brief cameo in Dhurandhar 2, where he reportedly portrayed a doctor.

Dr. Sunny Ashok’s experience reflects an unusual intersection of clinical practice and the entertainment industry.

What began as a routine medical visit turned into an unexpected opportunity, with the doctor appearing alongside lead actors in the film.

Film sets, especially those involving action scenes, often require the presence of medical professionals to manage potential risks.

Doctors in such settings play a critical role in:

  • Emergency response

  • Injury assessment

  • Ensuring safety protocols

Dr. Sunny Ashok’s experience reflects an unusual intersection of clinical practice and the entertainment industry. While his primary role was to ensure medical safety, the situation led to an unexpected appearance in a major film production and he is elated by the experience.
