Shocking details have emerged around the death of Dr. Bhawna Yadav, a 24-year-old doctor from Jaipur who was preparing for her FMGE exams in Delhi. On April 24, 2025, she succumbed to severe burn injuries and multiple stab wounds, raising serious questions about what really happened.

Udesh Yadav Denies Involvement; WhatsApp Chats Submitted by Wife

The main accused, Udesh Yadav—a distant relative of Bhawna’s—took her to the hospital following the incident. During police interrogation, he denied any involvement in her death. Meanwhile, WhatsApp chats submitted by his wife, Nikki, show Bhawna sending emotional messages and pleading to meet Udesh. These developments have added a new angle to the ongoing investigation.

A Relationship That Started in 2018

Udesh told the Haryana Police during interrogation that he met Bhawna in 2018 at a wedding when she was in Class 12. She was the sister-in-law of his uncle. The two reportedly fell in love and wanted to marry, but Bhawna’s mother allegedly refused, asking her to focus on her MBBS studies instead.

After multiple failed attempts to convince the family, Bhawna left for the Philippines to pursue her degree and lost contact with Udesh. In the meantime, Udesh secured a clerk’s job at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar, and married Nikki in 2021.

Bhawna’s Return and Alleged Pressure to Rekindle the Relationship

Police claim that after returning to India in 2023, Bhawna reconnected with Udesh and visited Hisar multiple times. She allegedly pressured him to divorce his wife and marry her. But when Udesh began distancing himself, Bhawna started reaching out from unknown numbers.

When he stopped responding, she reportedly contacted Nikki. Despite Nikki counselling her to move on, Bhawna allegedly continued reaching out. The 60-page WhatsApp chat presented to police reportedly includes Bhawna saying, “I am not okay. I will end myself,” just three days before she was burned.

What Happened on April 24

According to reports, Bhawna travelled from Delhi to Hisar after her exam to meet Udesh at his university quarters. On the morning of April 24, Udesh called his wife and claimed that Bhawna had set herself on fire and jumped over the compound wall.

He reportedly took her to a private hospital and informed Bhawna’s mother about her injuries at around 8:35 AM. But shortly after, he fled the hospital, allegedly fearing arrest, and even threw her phone into nearby bushes.

He was arrested on May 1, 2025. During the search, police recovered burnt clothes, a matchbox, and a bottle of petrol from his room. He was also suspended from his job following the arrest.

Family Statements and Conflicting Allegations

Udesh’s mother has defended her son, claiming Bhawna was obsessed with him. She alleged that their family had once sent a marriage proposal, which was initially rejected by Bhawna's mother. However, she later demanded ₹35 lakh for the marriage, calling Udesh “just a clerk.”

His wife, Nikki, also claimed Bhawna was in a one-sided relationship. “She used to frequently ask me about Udesh’s whereabouts. I’ve submitted the 60-page WhatsApp chat to the Hisar Police,” she said.

Meanwhile, Bhawna’s mother, Gayatri, stated in her police complaint that Bhawna’s face, stomach, and parts up to the knees were severely burned, while her hair remained intact. She noted there were also marks of sharp weapon injuries on Bhawna’s stomach, indicating she was stabbed before being burned.

Gayatri believes her daughter’s death was not an accident but a planned conspiracy. Bhawna’s younger sister, preparing for the UPSC in Delhi, said that whenever Bhawna went for tests in Delhi, she stayed with her and that they had no knowledge of how Bhawna ended up in Hisar.

One Young Life Lost, But Truth Still Unclear

While the investigation is still ongoing, it remains unclear whether Udesh’s version is true or Bhawna’s family is right. What’s certain is that a young doctor, just 24, lost her life under tragic circumstances—and many questions remain unanswered.
