A shocking incident occurred at a district hospital in Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh, where a needle was found embedded in a girl's arm after she received a tetanus injection. The health department has launched an investigation into the matter following protests from the girl's family members, officials reported on Monday.

According to Dr. RS Prajapati, Acting Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of the hospital, the incident took place at approximately 8:00 pm on Saturday.

Ruby, a resident of Khalepura locality in Hamirpur, sought medical attention for her 18-year-old daughter, Mahak, after Mahak cut herself with a sickle. Mahak received a tetanus injection at the hospital's emergency ward and returned home with her mother, as confirmed by Prajapati.

Prajapati revealed that Ruby and her family members returned to the hospital about an hour later, alleging that the medical staff had left a needle embedded in Mahak's arm. As tensions rose, hospital authorities called the police to restore order, and the situation was eventually defused through police intervention.

Mausam Khan, Mahak's father, said that "we carefully removed the needle and went back to the hospital to lodge a complaint, but the hospital staff responded by calling the police." (Representational Image: Pixabay)

He has since issued verbal instructions to the additional chief medical officer to conduct a thorough investigation, and further actions will be based on the findings of the probe report.
