In a shocking incident from West Bengal’s Howrah district, a woman allegedly convinced her husband to sell his kidney for Rs 10 lakh, claiming it was necessary to secure their daughter’s education. However, after receiving the money, she reportedly disappeared with another man, leaving her husband devastated.

According to the complaint filed by the husband, his wife had been persistently pressuring him for over a year to sell one of his kidneys. She assured him that the money would help improve their financial condition and provide better educational opportunities for their 12-year-old daughter. Trusting her intentions, the man eventually agreed to undergo the surgery and successfully sold his kidney last month.

Upon returning home with Rs 10 lakh, he was advised by his wife to rest and recover. However, not long after, she vanished, taking the entire amount along with some additional cash from their home.

“One day, she simply left and never returned. Later, I discovered that all the money, including some extra savings, was missing from the almirah,” the distressed husband shared.

The husband, however, refuted these claims and insisted that she had stolen the money from their home. (Representational Image: Pixabay)

With the help of friends, the husband and his family traced her whereabouts to Kolkata, where she was reportedly living with a man she had met on Facebook a year ago. The complaint further stated that she had been involved in an extramarital affair with him for some time.

When the husband, accompanied by his mother and daughter, confronted her at the man’s residence, she refused to speak with them. Her alleged lover stepped in and claimed she would file for divorce, citing years of physical and emotional abuse during their 16-year marriage.

The husband, however, refuted these claims and insisted that she had stolen the money from their home. The man she was living with denied the accusation, stating that she had only taken her personal savings.

Following the complaint, the police launched an investigation and reviewed video footage of the confrontation between the two families. Authorities plan to question both the woman and her alleged lover before taking any legal action.

This case also highlights the ongoing issue of illegal organ sales in India. Despite a strict ban on the sale of human organs since 1994, such transactions continue to occur due to financial desperation and a shortage of legal donors.
